“To gaze at the stars is to embark on a journey of self-discovery, guided by the light of distant worlds”
WHO AM I?
Hello, I’m Juanjo, an enthusiastic stargazer and advocate for astrotourism. I grew up in a small town called La Paz in Mendoza, Argentina, far from the bright lights of urban centers.
I’ve had the opportunity to travel and explore all of South America for 3 years, and I currently live in Europe. I’ve moved and traveled many times, and I hope to continue doing so.
The pristine night skies of my hometown always amazed me. With less light pollution, I could see many more stars shining above, and I loved sitting under the night sky, letting my mind wander through the endless thoughts and questions that the cosmos inspired.
As I grew older, my fascination with the stars only deepened. I graduated with a degree in Tourism and a Diploma in Scientific Tourism, which allowed me to join the municipal team in the Tourism Department, where I worked on various tourism and nature preservation projects. It was here that my passion for astrotourism truly took off.
I wanted to make the wonders of the night sky accessible to as many people as possible, and so my journey to share this passion began.
Why I Created This Website
In the beginning, I didn’t know anyone who shared my love for stargazing, and finding someone who could teach me was a challenge. I decided to teach myself through the internet, but it was difficult to find all the information I needed in one place.
This experience inspired me to create a website that covers all the basic (and not so basic) aspects of stargazing and astrophotography. I wanted it to be a meeting point for people who share this passion—a place to connect, learn, and share experiences and knowledge.
My goal is for this site to be more than just a source of information but also a community where people can come together.
Our Community Vision
I envision this website as a space where people can learn and have their first contact with the beautiful activity of stargazing.
I want everyone who visits to have the best possible experience, not just by finding information but also by sharing their experiences and connecting with like-minded individuals.
Our community members are people who seek a connection with the cosmos and want to feel part of the universe and their life’s purpose on this planet. They are individuals with a conscious awakening who respect nature and feel they are part of it. They understand that we are one with the universe and are on a journey to connect with their inner selves.
With these interests, our members are naturally curious and enjoy astronomy and science. They love learning new things every day and are self-taught.
Our community is made up of cultured individuals with good energy.
What Makes This Website Different
What sets this website apart is its focus on those taking their first steps into the world of stargazing.
I provide tools and tips to make the introduction to stargazing as smooth as possible, helping newcomers feel less overwhelmed by the hobby and encouraging them to continue despite any initial challenges. I aim to connect them with others to ensure they don’t feel alone in their interests.
The website covers all the basics of stargazing and astrophotography—the “cool” part of this activity that allows you to share what you see through amazing photos and time-lapses.
Astrotourism is also a core pillar because observing the night sky varies depending on where you are in the world, making each experience unique and unrepeatable. I share information about astrotourism destinations so that community members can travel and participate in sky observation activities around the globe.
My Astronomical Journey
My journey began with an interest in the Milky Way when I started stargazing without equipment, using only my eyes. Once I acquired equipment, I began with lunar observation, then moved on to planetary observation, and eventually became more interested in some deep-sky objects.
As the months passed, I felt the need not just to observe but to capture those moments through my camera. Over time, I learned the basics of astrophotography to take those awe-inspiring photos of the night sky.
If there’s one experience that transformed me, it was witnessing a total solar eclipse. It was an event that shook every cell in my body and filled me with an indescribable emotion—my favorite astronomical event by far.
Future Plans
Looking to the future, I dream of organizing stargazing events in different countries. I love traveling, which is another reason I chose to pursue a career in tourism. I also hope to collaborate with NGOs focused on nature preservation and sky protection
Thank you for being here. I hope this website inspires you to look up, explore, and connect with the universe and yourself.
